No serious injuries reported in Marquette e-bike crash with car

WLUC reported that traffic was stopped Friday afternoon at Washington Street and McClellan Avenue in Marquette after a crash involving an e-bike and a car.

A Marquette City Police officer told a TV6 reporter at the scene that the person riding the e-bike was not seriously injured.

What We Know

According to WLUC, traffic was stopped at the intersection as of 3:50 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026. The outlet reported that both roads around the intersection were closed while emergency personnel worked to clear the area.

WLUC reported that Marquette City Police, the Marquette City Fire Department, and the Marquette Township Fire Department were on scene.

The report did not identify the rider or driver, describe how the crash happened, or report any citations. WLUC said the story would be updated as more information became available.

Legal Issues After an E-Bike and Car Crash in Michigan

Michigan law generally gives people riding bicycles and electric bicycles on a roadway the rights and duties that apply to drivers, subject to special rules and provisions that do not fit those riders under MCL 257.657. That rule does not decide fault here because the source report does not describe the collision sequence, traffic signal, speed, visibility, or whether either person was cited.

If an e-bike rider later discovers injuries from a crash involving a motor vehicle, Michigan No-Fault issues may need review under MCL 500.3105. A separate pain-and-suffering claim against a driver generally depends on whether the injuries meet Michigan's serious-impairment threshold under MCL 500.3135. Because WLUC reported no serious injury, this story does not suggest there is currently a major injury claim.
