22-year-old Sparta man seriously injured in Grand Rapids highway ramp rollover

22-year-old Sparta man seriously injured in Grand Rapids highway ramp rollover

A 22-year-old Sparta man was seriously injured early Monday after a rollover crash on a Grand Rapids highway ramp.

Michigan State Police said the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on the eastbound ramp from I-196 to I-96, according to WOODTV.com. Police said the car left the right side of the road and rolled.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle and taken to a hospital with serious injuries. MSP said he was not believed to have been wearing a seat belt, and speed was considered a factor.

The early report did not identify the driver by name or list any passengers, citations, crash-report number, exact injuries, or updated medical condition.

Legal Issues After a Serious Single-Vehicle Rollover

A single-vehicle rollover does not automatically mean another driver or company is legally responsible. But serious injuries after a Michigan motor-vehicle crash can still create urgent No-Fault/PIP questions.

Under MCL 500.3105 and MCL 500.3107, PIP benefits may cover certain medical care, wage loss, replacement services, and related expenses when the statute and policy facts support the claim. MCL 500.3114 can also make insurer-priority review important, especially when a seriously injured driver needs hospital care quickly.

Because police reported possible speed and seat-belt issues, the crash report, medical records, insurance declarations, and any available ramp camera or vehicle data may matter.
