Does Michigan auto insurance cover water damage to a vehicle?

Yes. Depending on the facts of the case, coverage depends on how the damage occurred and which optional coverages the vehicle owner has.

Accoridng to the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, no-fault insurance generally does not pay to repair the policyholder’s vehicle. Collision coverage generally pays for crash damage, while comprehensive coverage may pay for flood damage. The policy’s terms, limits and deductible determine whether a particular loss is covered.
