Legal issues involved in a Michigan car crash

Injured crash victims may qualify for Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits under Michigan's no-fault Act. These benefits may apply to motor vehicle accidents and do not require proving fault.

These benefits can help cover medical expenses, wage loss, replacement services, attendant care.

Michigan law may also allow an injured person to bring a separate claim against an at-fault driver when the injuries meet the state's serious impairment of body function threshold under MCL 500.3135.

That type of claim is separate from PIP benefits and may include pain and suffering and other non-economic losses caused by negligent driving.
