The transit authority, school, operator, owner, contractor, technology provider, public agency, property holder, and private carrier may keep different parts of the record.
Preserve the coach or bus number, plate, route display, operator markings, fare or pass, reservation, school or trip sponsor, stop or pickup point, direction, driver, time, photographs, witnesses, and report number. Those details help separate the operator from an owner, contractor, school, authority, or facility.
Possible evidence includes GPS or AVL, onboard video or audio, dispatch, reservation, manifest, driver assignment, training, pre-trip inspection, maintenance, incident reporting, lift or securement material, and contractor records. Existence, coverage, control, and retention must be verified for the actual vehicle and date.

Ann Arbor has overlapping city, demand-response, campus, airport, event, and school transportation. The vehicle color and location are useful clues, but the coach number, route, pass, reservation, school eligibility, and operating entity determine the record path.

The University of Michigan operates campus transportation. A blue bus or university stop should be documented, but campus geography alone does not decide vehicle ownership, operation, public-body status, or responsibility.
AAPS currently distinguishes yellow-bus eligibility from AAATA passes for eligible students and identifies Durham as its bus partner. The school year, eligibility, route, pass, and vehicle must be refreshed for the actual trip.

No-Fault PIP benefits and a third-party bodily injury claim are separate. Public-body, school, or federal passenger-carrier rules depend on the actual entity, vehicle, and operation.
The correct PIP source can differ for a bus passenger, occupant of another vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist and can depend on household coverage, vehicle status, and assigned-claims facts. The bus liability insurer is not automatically the PIP insurer.
A separate claim requires proof of fault, causation, legal responsibility, applicable motor-vehicle threshold, comparative fault, and damages. The driver, operator, owner, contractor, school, authority, maintenance provider, or private carrier should not be treated as liable without supporting facts.
Public-body status can raise immunity, motor-vehicle-exception, notice, defendant, and forum questions. School-bus requirements and federal passenger-carrier rules may matter, but neither applies uniformly to every municipal, school, campus, charter, or shuttle operation.
