Harbor Springs man dies after boating incident on Wycamp Lake
John Gagnon, 61, of Harbor Springs, died Sunday after a boating incident on Wycamp Lake in northern Emmet County.
Emmet County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an unresponsive man at about 5:42 p.m. Sunday, July 26. Emergency responders arrived and determined that Gagnon had died.
A preliminary investigation indicates the boat accident caused him to fall into the water. The incident remains under investigation, but foul play is not currently suspected.
“On behalf of the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, I extend our deepest sympathies to Mr. Gagnon’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Sheriff Matt Leirstein said.
The sheriff’s office thanked citizens who rendered aid, Emmet County EMS and the Readmond/Friendship/Cross Village Fire Department.
