Michigan Traffic Crash Facts recorded 179 Genesee County motorcyclists with suspected serious injuries from 2020 through 2024. The countywide count does not prove that Dort Highway, Saginaw Street, I-69, I-75, US-23, or another location was responsible for a crash.
Flint Traffic Engineering archives city signal, sign, and pavement-marking information, while police, MSP, MDOT, Genesee County, contractors, businesses, and vehicle custodians hold different evidence. A City FOIA request reaches existing City records, not every public or private holder.
The motorcycle, helmet, clothing, detached parts, tow and storage trail, repair estimate, insurer photographs, and any involved motor vehicle may answer different questions. Their condition should be documented before repair, sale, salvage, or destructive inspection changes the proof.
Speed, visibility, lane position, licensing, equipment, and helmet allegations should be tested against the actual evidence. Helmet use does not decide who caused a turn, merge, rear-end impact, road event, or other collision, though injury-causation disputes may require separate medical proof.

A city-intersection crash is not built from the same record as a freeway merge or county-road surface event. Local motorcycle work should identify the road system first, then preserve Flint signal or marking information, the correct police file, private video, motorcycle and gear condition, motor-vehicle data, tow records, and the medical recovery.
The City’s Traffic Engineering Division identifies historical archiving of traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings as part of its work. For a city-controlled scene, a focused request can investigate what control existed and when, but the archive does not itself prove malfunction, notice, or causation.
An I-69, I-75, or US-23 crash may involve MSP, MDOT, a contractor, freeway cameras or traffic data, and a different tow rotation. A Dort Highway, Saginaw Street, or neighborhood event may involve Flint Police, city traffic records, storefronts, residences, or local witnesses.
Flint explains how to request existing City public records under FOIA. A request does not preserve a motorcycle, another vehicle, privately owned footage, business data, or evidence held by another agency, so those targets need separate attention.

Motorcycle PIP priority when a motor vehicle is involved, optional motorcycle medical benefits, liability, UM/UIM, health coverage, road or product issues, and damages are separate paths. None is automatic from the crash label.
