Woman killed in head-on crash on Jonesville Road
A 67-year-old Quincy woman died and a Coldwater man was injured in a head-on crash Friday morning.
Branch County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 5:13 a.m. Sept. 18 to Jonesville Road near Ridge Road.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a vehicle driven by Janet Murray collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle driven by Travis Morrow, 51, of Coldwater.
Murray was pronounced dead at the scene. Morrow was taken to Insight Health with minor injuries.
Coldwater Public Safety, Life Care Ambulance, the Quincy Fire Department and Branch County Central Dispatch assisted at the scene.
The sheriff’s office is investigating what caused the collision.
Wrongful death claims after a Michigan head-on crash
When another person’s negligence causes a fatal crash, a wrongful death claim may be available. Under MCL 600.2922, the lawsuit must be brought by the personal representative, the person authorized to act for the deceased person’s estate.
