Vendor dies after van hits him at Warren flea market

Mirhad Cehic died after customers ran him over with a van due to an argument.

Cehic was working at County Line Trade Center on Dequindre Road near Eight Mile Road. His family said the dispute involved a refund at the flea market on Saturday, Sept. 26. Warren Police said he was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Both customers were taken into custody.

Cehic had immigrated from Bosnia and sold lawn mowers and snowblowers at the market for years, Alvin Cehic.

“He was a good father for sure, I’ll tell you that,” his son Alvin Cehic said.

Cehic leaves behind his wife, three adult children and two teenagers.

A nephew organized a GoFundMe to help pay funeral expenses and support Cehic’s children.

Michigan wrongful death claims after a fatal vehicle incident

Michigan law permits a wrongful death action when another person’s wrongful act, neglect or fault caused a death. Under MCL 600.2922, the estate’s personal representative brings the lawsuit for those entitled to damages. Depending on the proof, damages may include reasonable funeral expenses for which the estate is liable, lost financial support and loss of companionship.
