Two children treated in Jamestown Township crash
Two children were taken to a hospital with minor injuries after an SUV and a minivan collided Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. at 40th Avenue and Greenly Street in Jamestown Township.
Deputies said a 69-year-old Hudsonville woman driving west on Greenly Street ran a stop sign and collided with a southbound minivan driven by a 36-year-old Zeeland woman. The minivan went into a ditch.
Four children were riding in the minivan. Neither driver was injured. The crash was under investigation.
Can injured passengers receive no-fault medical benefits without a serious injury?
Yes. Eligible passengers can receive personal injury protection benefits for reasonable charges for reasonably necessary medical care, subject to applicable coverage and limits. Michigan Legal Center's overview of passenger injury claims in Michigan explains no-fault benefits don't require proving another driver caused the crash.
A separate claim for pain and suffering against an at-fault driver has a higher injury threshold. Under Michigan's injury threshold law, the injured person must have suffered death, permanent serious disfigurement or a serious impairment of body function. That threshold doesn't apply to a claim for no-fault medical benefits.
