Semi rollover spills diesel fuel on I-75

A semitruck rollover spilled diesel fuel and debris on northbound I-75 and the Fort Street entrance ramp Tuesday night.

Michigan State Police responded at approximately 11:35 p.m. Sept. 15 near Schaefer. The truck’s cab was hanging over the freeway after it overturned.

Troopers believe speed and roadway conditions contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the truck before it overturned is asked to contact Michigan State Police.

Michigan drivers must adjust their speed for road conditions

Michigan’s basic speed law requires drivers to choose a careful, reasonable speed for traffic, the road’s surface and width and other existing conditions. Under MCL 257.627, drivers are required to drive slowly enough to stop within the distance visible.
