Michigan's basic speed law
Michigan's basic speed law requires drivers to choose a careful, reasonable speed based on the conditions of the road. Drivers also must be able to stop within the clear distance ahead. Driving below the posted limit doesn't necessarily mean a driver's speed is safe for the conditions.
Michigan Legal Center explains how vehicle data, video and crash reconstruction can help establish speed and fault.
