Crash disrupts Bishop Airport access

Crash disrupts Bishop Airport access

A crash investigation closed Bristol Road on Friday morning, Oct. 16, disrupting access to Bishop International Airport from I-75.

The Flint Township Police Department identified the closure at Torrey Road, just west of the interstate, and asked drivers to adjust their travel plans. Police warned that motorists couldn't reach the airport from I-75 while the road was closed.

When must you report a crash in Michigan?

Michigan drivers must immediately report a crash that injures or kills someone or causes apparent property damage totaling $1,000 or more. Under MCL 257.622, the report must go to the nearest or most convenient police station or officer.

Notifying an insurance company alone doesn't satisfy the duty to report to police. Michigan Legal Center explains what to do after a car accident in Michigan, including contacting police and getting a crash report number.
