Car crashes into Milford dentist

A normal Wednesday morning day for a local family dentist was interrupted when a car smashed through the wall. Superior Family Dental in Milford was hit on Sept. 9 by a car that lost control, no injuries were reported but the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The Milford Police and Fire Departments responded around 9:15 a.m. Sept. 9 to the business in the 400 block of West Huron.

Investigators determined that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.

Who pays when a vehicle damages a building in Michigan?

Michigan’s property protection insurance can pay for accidental damage a vehicle causes to a building. According t the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, this coverage pays up to $1 million for damage to property such as buildings and fences.

Under MCL 500.3121, qualifying property protection benefits are payable regardless of fault. Benefits cover the lesser of reasonable repair costs or replacement costs less depreciation, plus the value of lost use when applicable. Coverage remains subject to statutory conditions and exclusions.
