7-Year-Old Critically Injured in Bay City Pedestrian Crash
A 7-year-old child was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon at Center Avenue and North Monroe Street in Bay City, police said.
Bay City Department of Public Safety police and fire personnel responded at about 3:15 p.m. July 14. Center Avenue carries M-25 through the city.
An 11-year-old child who was with the younger child sustained minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.
Police said two vehicles were involved and both drivers are cooperating with investigators. Officials have not publicly explained how the vehicles were involved or what led to the child being struck.
Two blocks of Center Avenue were closed while officers investigated. The Bay County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police and MedStar Ambulance also assisted at the scene, according to a report citing the Department of Public Safety.
