17-year-old seriously injured in Tuscola County pickup crash
A 17-year-old Kingston driver was seriously injured after hitting a tree in his pickup truck in Tuscola County.
The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office said the crash was reported at 2:29 p.m. Aug. 21 near Froede and Silvernail roads. The caller told Tuscola County Central Dispatch that the driver was pinned inside.
The sheriff’s preliminary investigation found that the pickup was heading north on Froede Road when it left the right side of the road and hit a culvert. The impact sent the truck airborne before it landed and hit a tree.
Severe damage to the pickup made the rescue difficult. Firefighters and law enforcement officers worked for more than an hour before freeing the teenager.
Mobile Medical Response transported him to Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw with serious injuries.
The sheriff’s office has not determined why the pickup left the road.
