Who can bring a wrongful death claim after a Michigan crash?
Under Michigan's wrongful death law, a wrongful death claim claim is when the estate representative of a deceased person brings a suit that the they would have been able to bring themselves if they weren't dead.
Recoverable losses may include reasonable medical, hospital, funeral and burial expenses for which the estate is liable, along with eligible surviving family members' loss of financial support and companionship. Michigan Legal Center's explanation of Michigan wrongful death deadlines describes why estate authority and the deadline for the underlying claim need to be reviewed together.
