Woman killed in Flint hit-and-run on North Dort Highway

A woman died in a hit-and-run Saturday night, and investigators are asking for help identifying the vehicle.

Flint Police Department officers responded around 8:55 p.m. Oct. 3 to North Dort Highway near Nebraska Avenue. Police said she was hit as she walked along the road and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the vehicle has heavy front-end damage on the driver's side. Its color, make and model remain unknown.

Michigan drivers' duties after a serious crash

Under MCL 257.617, a driver who has reason to believe they were in a crash must stop, give help at the scene and call the police, regardless of if they caused the crash.

If a driver reasonably and honestly believes remaining at the scene will result in further harm, the law allows immediate reporting to the nearest or most convenient police agency or officer to fulfill the identification and license requirements.
