Woman injured in Ann Arbor pedestrian crash

A 69-year-old woman was hospitalized Thursday morning after she was hit by an SUV in a downtown Ann Arbor crosswalk.

Ann Arbor Police Department officers responded about 10:45 a.m. Sept. 10 to East Huron Street and North Fifth Avenue.

The preliminary investigation found that an 87-year-old West Bloomfield man turned east onto East Huron Street hitting the woman, who was in the crosswalk.

The Ann Arbor Fire Department took her to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police said neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor.

The intersection briefly closed during the investigation and has reopened.
