Woman found dead after multi-vehicle crash on I-75 Rouge Bridge in Detroit
A woman was found dead on I-75 on Rouge Bridge after a multi-vehicle crash early Saturday.
Michigan State Police troopers responded at about 2:37 a.m. Aug. 22 to southbound I-75 at the top of the bridge between Dearborn Street and Schaefer Highway.
Troopers found the woman in the roadway and multiple vehicles involved in the crash. Police did not release her age or identity in the initial statement.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known. The freeway was closed during the investigation and later reopened. The investigation remained ongoing as of Saturday evening.

A wrongful death claim is not automatic. Michigan’s wrongful death statute, MCL 600.2922, permits an action when another person’s wrongful act, neglect or fault caused the death and the person could have maintained a claim if the death had not occurred. The estate’s personal representative brings the action for the estate and eligible beneficiaries.
Depending on the evidence, recoverable damages may include reasonable medical, funeral and burial expenses, lost financial support, conscious pain and suffering and loss of society and companionship. A claimant must still prove the underlying fault and causation.
