Serious motorcycle crash closed westbound I-696
At least one person was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash that closed westbound I-696 Wednesday morning.
Michigan State Police troopers responded about 7:30 a.m. Sept. 23 near Woodward Avenue in Royal Oak. Drivers were directed off westbound I-696 at Woodward Avenue while police investigated. The ramps from both directions of I-75 to westbound I-696 also were closed.
The freeway remained closed at 8:49 a.m., CBS Detroit reported. State police asked drivers to avoid the area and give first responders room to work.
Michigan no-fault benefits after a motorcycle crash
Michigan’s motorcycle priority rule under MCL 500.3114(5) sets an order of insurers for personal injury protection benefits when a motorcycle operator or passenger is injured in an accident showing evidence of a motor vehicle’s involvement.
