One hospitalized, driver taken into custody after three-vehicle I-94 crash in Detroit
One person was hospitalized and a driver was taken into custody after a three-vehicle crash early Wednesday on Interstate 94 in Detroit.
Michigan State Police troopers responded at about 1:37 a.m. July 22 to the crash on westbound I-94 near Warren Avenue.
Several people were involved, and one was taken to a local hospital for treatment. State police did not release information about that person’s condition.
Troopers initially received information that an infant might have been involved. They quickly confirmed that no baby was in any of the vehicles.
One driver was taken into custody as part of the investigation but did not say why the driver was detained or whether charges were expected.
The freeway was temporarily closed while troopers investigated the scene and cleared the roadway. The investigation remains ongoing.
Michigan no-fault benefits after an injury crash
Michigan law treats no-fault benefits separately from a claim based on who caused a crash. Under MCL 500.3105, personal protection insurance benefits for accidental bodily injury arising from the use of a motor vehicle are payable without regard to fault.
