Motorcyclist dies after SUV crash in downtown Plainwell
A motorcyclist died after a collision with an SUV in downtown Plainwell Tuesday afternoon.
The Plainwell Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred downtown. News Channel 3 reported it happened around 3 p.m. at Bridge and Main streets and closed the area for about two hours.
Public safety personnel provided emergency care before Beacon Health Plainwell Area EMS took the motorcyclist to Beacon Kalamazoo. He later died from his injuries.
No information about injuries to anyone in the SUV was immediately available. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved while appropriate notifications are completed. Investigators have not determined what caused the collision.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office assisted with crash reconstruction. Investigators asked anyone who witnessed the collision, saw either vehicle shortly before it or has relevant downtown video to call the Plainwell Department of Public Safety at 269-685-9858 or Detective John Varley at 269-720-0621.
