Detroit tow truck driver dies after Sterling Heights crash with semi tractor

A 29-year-old Detroit tow truck driver died after colliding with a semi early Tuesday.

The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. at Mound Road and Dobry Drive, the morning of Tuesday, July 21, according to the Sterling Heights Police Department.

Police said the semi was driving south on Mound Road through a green light while the tow truck was driving west on Dobry Drive. The tow truck driver was ejected and died from his injuries.

The semi driver declined medical treatment at the scene.

Police said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor and the investigation remains ongoing.
