Who is Shanna Suver?
From her office, Shanna helps keep Michigan Legal Center running every day. Clients and attorneys alike come to her for help and advice.
Originally from Ohio, Shanna moved to Waterford, Michigan in high school and has lived here ever since with her family. Now a mother of three and a paralegal with more than two decades of experience, Shanna is one of the most valuable members of the Michigan Legal Center team.
Becoming a paralegal and office manager
Shanna did not take a traditional path into legal work. She learned the work hands-on alongside the company’s founder and owner, building her career through experience, trust and years of solving problems for attorneys and clients.
She began as a paralegal in the firm in 2005, built her career from the ground up and became someone the entire office can turn to for help. At times Shanna helps every attorney in the office and keeps daily operations moving.
In 2017, she became office manager, since then she has been the go-to person for the office. Today, she continues to balance paralegal work with office management duties.
Interacting with clients
Shanna is one of the people who interacts with clients the most at Michigan Legal Center, which she really enjoys. For her, the best part of the job is knowing that she gets to help someone through perhaps some of the hardest moments of their life.
Sometimes clients call her because they have a question or need help understanding their case. Other times, they call just because they are overwhelmed, frustrated or simply need someone to listen.
“When somebody calls me and says, ‘Thank you so much, this means the world to me,’ I feel good knowing I helped somebody,” she said. “At the end of the day, I feel like maybe I changed that person a little bit. Maybe I helped them feel better.”
Outside the office
Outside the office, Shanna’s life revolves around family, sports, and Ohio State football.
Though she has lived in Michigan for around 30 years, her love of the Ohio State football team has never wavered. She has made it a family tradition to see at least one home Buckeye’s game with her family each year.
She has a son and two daughters, who keep her very busy with their own after school activities. Both of her daughters are great softball players, during the weekends you might find Shanna cheering on her kids on the sidelines or following the various football teams Ohio State might be playing next.
