Detroit, MI (August 27, 2023) - On Sunday, August 27, a crash blocked the left lanes of westbound I-96 after Novi Road, prompting the Detroit Police Department to respond.
According to a report from the Michigan Department of Transportation for the Oakland County area, all left lanes were restricted after an accident involving two vehicles. The Detroit Police Department and the Michigan State Police arrived at the scene just before 7:00 p.m. and immediately began conducting an investigation.
It is still unknown how many persons were injured, but the Detroit Police Department also requested emergency medical assistance.
The DPD's investigation is winding down, and detectives are interviewing potential witnesses. In the interim, no other details have been revealed.
Our thoughts and best wishes for recovery are with the wounded and their families at this time.
Despite the frustration and difficulty, there are some simple actions you may do to safeguard your legal rights in the wake of a car accident in Michigan.
As a first step, all motorists in Michigan should know that a police report must be made if the combined costs of injuries and property damage from an accident reach $1,000. The police report will include a comprehensive description of the accident scene, as well as the names and contact information for any witnesses and the names and policy numbers of any insurance companies involved.
After that, prompt medical attention is essential. Even minor injuries might significantly affect the victim's quality of life. It is also important for victims to keep detailed records as soon as they see signs of injury or other symptoms since this can help prove that the incident was the direct cause of their problems. In a similar vein, if you have any new symptoms or injuries after beginning therapy, you should schedule an appointment with your doctor right away. Keep track of how often the accident occurs, how much it costs, how much suffering it causes, and how your therapy has changed because of the event.
Remember that in order to recover properly from an accident, you will need to take part in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and regular checkups with your primary care physician. In addition, the success of your claim and any possible legal action depends on your compliance with the recommended therapy. Insurance adjusters in Michigan commonly argue that an accident victim is not entitled to benefits or compensation because they refused medical treatment or repeatedly rescheduled meetings with their physicians.
