Car Accidents in Michigan

Fenton Twp., MI – Injuries Reported in Car Accident on Lahring RdEach year, hundreds of thousands of car accidents are reported across Michigan. For those affected, the consequences can be life-changing, especially when the crash is caused by someone else’s negligence. No one should have to bear the burden of an accident that could have been prevented. If you find yourself in this situation, seeking legal guidance from an experienced Fenton Township car accident attorney is essential to protect your rights and ensure you receive fair compensation for any injuries or damages you have suffered.

In Michigan, filing a personal injury claim requires proving that the other driver was negligent at the time of the crash. This involves demonstrating four key elements:

  • The driver owed you a duty of care.
  • They breached that duty.
  • Their breach of duty directly caused the crash.
  • You suffered injuries and damages as a result.

Once these elements are established, you can pursue financial compensation for your losses, including medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, and pain and suffering.

To maximize your financial recovery, it is critical to show that the other driver was responsible for causing the accident. Michigan’s comparative negligence laws allow accident victims to file personal injury claims even if they were partially at fault for the crash. However, the compensation you recover will be reduced by the percentage of fault you share. For instance, if you are found to be 20% at fault, your compensation will be reduced by 20%. This makes it all the more important to seek legal representation right away to build a strong case and help ensure you receive the maximum compensation possible.
