Car Accidents in Michigan

Jackson, MI – Car Accident on E Michigan Ave Takes One LifeA car accident can change your life in an instant. Unfortunately, many people in Michigan are injured every year due to vehicle crashes. Car accidents are one of the leading causes of injuries and fatalities across the state. If you are injured in a crash, you have the option to file a personal injury claim against the person responsible for the accident.

Michigan uses a system called "comparative negligence" to handle personal injury claims. This means that if you seek compensation for your injuries, you must show that the other driver was at least partly at fault for the accident. However, your own level of responsibility for the crash will impact the compensation you can receive.

If you are found to be more than 50% responsible for the accident, you cannot recover non-economic damages, such as pain and suffering, emotional distress, or loss of enjoyment of life. But even if you share some of the blame, you can still pursue economic damages, like lost wages and medical bills. Proving that the other driver was negligent is essential to maximizing the amount of compensation you can recover
