A car crash can have a devastating impact on your life, and sadly, there are many instances where people are seriously harmed in vehicle accidents across Michigan. Motor vehicle collisions are among the leading causes of accidental injuries and deaths in the state every year. If you are injured in a car crash, you may have the right to file a personal injury claim against the person responsible for the accident.
Michigan’s legal system follows the concept of comparative negligence in personal injury claims arising from accidents. This means that if you are injured and seek compensation, you must show that the other party was at least partly responsible for causing the crash. However, the degree of your own fault in the accident will directly affect the compensation you may receive.
If it is determined that you were more than 50% responsible for the accident, you cannot seek non-economic damages like pain and suffering, emotional distress, or loss of enjoyment of life. But even if you are partially responsible, you can still recover economic damages, such as lost wages, medical bills, and other costs you face due to the accident.
It is crucial to prove that the other driver’s negligence played a significant role in causing the accident to maximize your recovery. Working with an experienced Montrose City car accident lawyer can help strengthen your case, ensuring that you have solid evidence to support your claim and increase your chances of securing compensation.
