Auto Accidents in Michigan

Brownstown Twp., MI – Auto Wreck with Injuries on I-75 near Sibley RdEvery day, motor vehicle accidents in Michigan lead to serious injuries. Many victims find themselves unable to work for weeks as they undergo extensive medical treatment. These injuries often include severe spinal cord fractures, broken bones, and deep cuts and lacerations. Unfortunately, many of these accidents could have been prevented. Some of the most common causes of vehicle crashes in our state include:

  • Speeding: Driving above the speed limit increases the likelihood of losing control, especially in sudden traffic changes. It also extends the distance required to stop the vehicle, which can lead to collisions that could have been avoided at lower speeds.
  • Distracted Driving: Whether it is texting, eating, or using a GPS, distracted driving takes attention away from the road. This split-second distraction can result in accidents with devastating consequences, leaving victims with life-altering injuries.
  • Weather Conditions: Michigan's unpredictable weather can create hazardous driving conditions, such as icy roads, heavy rain, or fog. Drivers who fail to adjust their speed or driving habits to match the weather are more likely to cause accidents.
  • Reckless Driving: Aggressive driving behaviors, such as tailgating, weaving through traffic, and road rage, significantly increase the risk of accidents. These actions affect not only the driver but also everyone else on the road.
  • Running Red Lights or Stop Signs: Disregarding traffic signals is a common cause of intersection collisions. These accidents are often severe, as they typically involve one vehicle striking another at high speed.
  • Drunk Driving: Driving a car while under the influence of alcohol or drugs impairs judgment, slows reaction times, and reduces coordination. Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of serious and fatal accidents in Michigan.
