Every year, hundreds of thousands of vehicle collisions are reported on roadways across Michigan. No one should have to suffer the consequences of an accident that was caused by someone else's negligence. Seeking legal guidance from an experienced Michigan car accident attorney is crucial in order to protect your rights and receive just compensation for any injuries or damages you may have endured.
In Michigan, when it comes to filing a personal injury claim, you must be able to demonstrate that negligence existed at the time of the crash. This involves showing that a driver owes you a duty of care, breached the duty, the duty’s breach caused the crash, and suffered injuries and damages due to the collision. After proving these elements, you have the opportunity to recover financial compensation for your damages and losses.
In order to maximize your financial recovery, you must be able to prove that the defendant caused the accident to occur. In Michigan, the laws of comparative negligence enable victims to file personal injury claims to recover compensation even if they contributed to the accident in some way. However, any compensation you recover for your damages will be reduced to reflect the amount of fault you shared for the crash. For this reason, it is vital to seek legal representation immediately to ensure you are able to maximize your financial recovery.
