Warren, MI – Worker Hurt at Hercules Machine Tool on 10 Mile Rd

Warren, MI (January 25, 2024) – A worker was transported to an area hospital following an industrial accident that took place on Wednesday evening, January 24. The incident was reported to law enforcement just before 6:30 p.m.

According to official reports, an employee was working at the Hercules machine tool, located in the 13,900 block of 10 Mile Road, when they became trapped under a piece of equipment. Emergency officials rushed to the scene to remove the trapped worker. The victim was transported to Ascension St. John Hospital for emergency medical treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated.

We hope the injured worker recovers quickly.

Workplace Accidents in Michigan

Several Michigan workers who sustain workplace injuries are eligible for compensation, including medical costs and 80% of their typical weekly earnings. The purpose of workers' compensation is twofold: to shield companies against lawsuits brought by injured workers and to compensate those workers monetarily for their losses. Workers' compensation benefits can help make up for things like missed pay, medical bills, and rehabilitation services. Furthermore, claims are available to family members of workers who have died on the job.

The state of Michigan mandates that all public and private sector businesses have workers' compensation insurance, often with the following stipulations:

  • Employers routinely use shifts of three or more employees.
  • They have also had at least one employee for the previous 52 weeks who has consistently worked 35 or more hours per week for 13 weeks or longer.

Sadly, things are rarely that easy. Even the simplest claims may become complicated and time-consuming when third-party claims adjustors, insurance companies, or law-bending employers are thrown into the mix.

So, if you are hurt on the job and are rendered incapacitated as a result, you may be eligible for workers' comp. That said, these claims aren't always simple or straightforward, even when your circumstances make you a clear candidate for recompense. To safeguard your interests, you should choose an attorney with experience in workers' compensation law. Self-representing yourself in a Michigan workers' compensation lawsuit may seem like a good idea at the time, but it might end up costing you more in the end.
