Livingston Co., MI (January 25, 2024) – The Michigan State Police responded to the scene of a fatal automobile accident that took place on Wednesday morning. Calls for assistance came to the state police at approximately 1:25 a.m. on January 24.
According to official reports, a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old woman from Grand Blanc, Michigan, was stopped on the shoulder of the northbound side of US Highway 23 during the early morning hours. The woman was reportedly experiencing some vehicle issues prior to stopping. At the same time, a second vehicle was traveling northbound on the roadway. For unknown reasons, the vehicle struck the disabled vehicle from behind. The force of the collision sent the disabled vehicle off the roadway, where it went into a ditch and overturned.
The second vehicle then became disabled in the right lane of travel when it was struck by a third vehicle. One person involved in the accident was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was identified as a 60-year-old man. Four additional victims were injured in the accident. The victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
