Lowell, MI (December 7, 2023) - A head-on collision left one person dead and at least four others critically injured, including two children, per the Kent County Sheriff's Office.

According to deputies, around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, near the intersection of Alden Nash Avenue and Emery Drive, the collision occurred. Authorities say a motorist traveling south on Alden Nash was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle. The driver, a 42-year-old Belding woman, had already passed away before deputies reached the scene of the accident. The woman's two children, a 4-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy, were in the rear seat when the accident occurred. The children were sent to the hospital but remained in stable condition. Two other women, as well as the other driver, were transported to the hospital from the scene with serious injuries, though their current conditions are unknown. An investigation remains active, and officers asked any witnesses to step forward.
