Richmond Township, MI (November 18, 2023) - On Saturday, a collision on U.S. Highway 10 resulted in the airlift of two patients to area hospitals.
An injury collision involving a person on US-10 at Lakola Road in Richmond Township was attended by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. Reed City Fire Rescue used Jaws of Life to evacuate those who were badly wounded, deputies said, closing the freeway for almost five hours. After landing on US-10, an aeromedical helicopter transported two patients to Grand Rapids Hospital. A total of five individuals were transported to Reed City Corwell Hospital by ambulance. Deputies said a 51-year-old man from Baldwin was driving a GMC truck when he lost control of his vehicle and hit three others after crossing the center line. The man's four-year-old son and twelve-year-old daughter were also riding in the GMC truck. The two individuals in the front seats of the Ford were taken to the hospital by helicopter, per the deputies, but specifics on the other victims' injuries are unknown.
