Van Buren County, MI (October 15, 2023) - A volunteer fireman and three other motorists were involved in two separate accidents on Michigan Highway 43 on Friday, but all are expected to make full recoveries.
According to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office, a 2017 Jeep Patriot was traveling west on M-43 at 40th Street when the driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Both drivers were rushed to the hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening. A call came in regarding another accident on M-43 while deputies were on their way to the scene of the first crash.
Deputies say a Paw Paw volunteer fireman on their way to the first accident struck a motorist who was making a left turn into a driveway on nearby 37th Street. Both have been hospitalized and were also expected to recover.
On Friday, deputies said they still didn't know whether drugs or alcohol had a role in either collision, but an investigation is ongoing.
Our thoughts and best wishes for a full recovery are with the injured victims and their loved ones.
