Detroit, MI (August 29, 2023) - On Tuesday, August 29, several vehicles collided near the Van Dyke exit of eastbound I-696, closing almost all left lanes.
Officers with the Detroit Police Department were sent to the scene shortly thereafter. According to a report from the Michigan Department of Transportation for the Macomb County area, the incident, which involved what seems to be at least two to three drivers, blocked most of the left-hand traffic lanes on the roadway.
Police from Detroit and the state of Michigan arrived at the scene at about 2:15 p.m. to begin their investigation.
It is still unknown how many persons were injured, but the Detroit Police Department also requested emergency medical assistance.
DPD detectives are wrapping up their investigation and interviewing potential witnesses. In the meantime, no other details have been revealed.
The injured victims and their families are in our thoughts. We hope for their full recovery.
