According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an automobile accident occurs every 10 seconds on American roads. It's not a big secret that most personal injury cases in court nowadays include some kind of car accident.
Insurance companies in Michigan must settle claims almost always without regard to culpability in auto accidents because of the state's "no-fault" law. However, one kind of compensation sought in a case is first-party benefits, sometimes known as monetary damages.
Victims should employ an attorney to advocate for their interests and ensure they get any benefits to which they are entitled, but they may be concerned about the cost of doing so. After an accident, those who have legal representation frequently get larger settlements than those who do not. Furthermore, because most personal injury attorneys operate on a contingency fee basis, which means clients do not pay unless they win compensation, they will not ask accident victims for money in advance.
There are several ways in which a lawyer might aid a victim of a car accident:
-If your insurance is unjustly withholding compensation that is rightfully yours, you have the right to sue it for breach of contract.
-If you were wounded by a driver with no insurance and/or insufficient insurance, your lawyer may file a claim under your uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
-Assisting you or your loved ones in filing a claim for damages against the at-fault motorist in the event of death, significant injury, or permanent disfigurement.
-Taking charge of the claims procedure and representing you in dealings with the insurer. Your lawyer will explore all options, including collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses, to determine who was at fault for the accident and why you should be paid.
