Genesee County, MI (August 18, 2023) - According to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), an accident on Friday afternoon, August 18, shut down several lanes of U.S. Highway 23 in Genesee County.
Per reports from authorities on the scene, northbound traffic was completely blocked after Exit 84. MDOT stated that an accident occurred on the northbound side of U.S. 23 after the Thompson Road exit (Exit 84) at around 3:30 p.m. Drivers were urged to take alternate routes while police conducted their on-scene investigation.
The total number of victims involved is unknown, though EMTs were spotted via news footage evaluating those involved for injuries.
An investigation remains ongoing and active in the interim, and Genesee County deputies urged any witnesses to come forward.
