Manistee, MI (August 12, 2023) - On Friday morning, a boat carrying three persons smashed into a pier in Manistee, causing injuries on Friday morning.
According to a Facebook post by the City of Manistee, rescuers were called to First Street Beach at around 5:25 a.m. on Friday, August 11, after reports of a boat crashing with the pier.
Per city officials, when they got to the site, they discovered the boat perched on the pier. There were three individuals onboard the boat, and everyone escaped the incident with just minor to moderate injuries. The three people on board were rescued without incident and sent to Munson Manistee Hospital for medical attention, the city added.
Manistee police have not concluded their investigation into the collision, though the incident was not caused by alcohol use. At the site, the Manistee Police Department was aided by the Manistee City Fire Department and the Manistee Station of the United States Coast Guard.
