Macon Township, MI (August 9, 2023) - On Tuesday, a motorcycle accident in Macon Township claimed the life of one victim and wounded another.
According to a press statement from the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office, the two motorcyclists were a father and son from Ypsilanti. At 5:20 p.m., they were traveling north on Britton Highway when they were struck by the driver of a Chevy who allegedly ran a stop sign. The first victim, a 68-year-old man, was killed instantly.
The other motorcyclist, a 37-year-old man, tried to dodge the vehicle but crashed into a ditch. He was transferred to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff's office confirmed that the Chevy's driver, a 41-year-old woman from Romulus, was also hospitalized with serious injuries. There was only one other person in the car, but it's unclear if they were hurt.
Neither drugs nor alcohol factored into the cause of the incident, but deputies are still investigating.
Our deepest condolences go out to the deceased man's family. Our thoughts are also with the injured in hopes of their complete recovery.
