Detroit, MI (July 31, 2023) - On Sunday, July 30, a rollover accident on Interstate 96 in Detroit left two women hospitalized, one of whom was said to be in critical condition.
Just after 7:30 a.m., troopers with the Michigan State Police responded to the crash site on westbound Interstate 96, just before the transition ramp to the Davison Freeway. The MSP's preliminary reports indicate that a 30-year-old woman driving an SUV apparently lost control and veered onto the right shoulder.
According to officers, the car smashed into a light pole before flipping over and throwing the driver onto the highway. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The collision also partly ejected one of the SUV's passengers. The woman initially declined care, but after first responders evaluated her injuries at the scene, she was transferred to a medical center via ambulance.
Troopers are still investigating the surrounding circumstances of the crash and have not provided further details to the public.
Our thoughts go out to the wounded victims and their family members at this time.. We wish them a complete recovery.
