Pontiac, MI (July 25, 2023) - After being rescued from a townhouse fire in Pontiac on Tuesday morning, two small children were listed in critical condition, according to area authorities.
Around 12:35 a.m., the Waterford Regional Fire Department was called to the Perry Street Cornerstone Townhomes. Heavy smoke was billowing from the building when they arrived, and they found two children inside a second-floor bedroom, and both kids were apparently trapped. EMTs rushed the two to the Children's Hospital after they were rescued.
Two other people, an adult and a baby, were also in the residence at the time. According to the police report, the adult escaped the second floor after tossing the baby to a witness. Both were hurt, along with an onlooker.
Two apartments sustained severe fire and smoke damage, while the remaining four apartments were undamaged. The American Red Cross is assisting residents, and police are still working to investigate the incident.
