Saugatuck, MI (June 21, 2023) - On Tuesday, June 20, one person was killed and another was injured after a tire blowout caused a crash in Saugatuck.
The deadly accident was reported on Interstate 196 at around 2:15 p.m. It was reported that a 32-year-old Zeeland man was driving a pickup truck headed northbound when the vehicle experienced a blowout near mile marker 43. The driver and his passenger, a 29-year-old Holland man, were ejected from the vehicle.
The roadway was closed for several hours while emergency responders were present. The identities of the involved parties have not been provided.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
