Pontiac, MI (June 20, 2023) - On Saturday night, June 17, two pedestrians were injured after being hit by a motor vehicle in Pontiac.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Osumun Street at around 10:49 p.m. It was reported that a 27-year-old Pontiac resident was driving a 2015 Cadillac XTS traveling southbound. The driver reportedly swerved to avoid another vehicle and went over a curb where they hit three pedestrians on the sidewalk.
A party was being held nearby at the time of the accident. It is believed that the driver was using a handheld communication device leading to the crash.
One of the victims, a 46-year-old Pontiac woman, was transported to a hospital in critical condition, along with a 52-year-old Pontiac man. The driver was also hurt in the accident.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
