Holland, MI (February 11, 2022) - A 77-year-old man was killed after a rear-end collision occurred on a roadway in Holland on February 7. Initial reports reveal that the fatal two-car accident happened at around 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Sources say that the wreck occurred near Felch Street on US-31 shortly after a vehicle was spotted driving erratically heading north. That vehicle was driven by a 31-year-old male.
The 31-year-old reckless driver crashed into another vehicle from behind. The driver of the second vehicle, identified as a 77-year-old man from Baldwin, suffered fatal injuries at the crash scene.
His female passenger, aged 76, from Valparaiso, Indiana, was rushed to an area medical center in serious condition. The 31-year-old West Olive man suffered no injuries. He was arrested on-site.
The northbound lanes of US-31 were closed for several hours on the 7th while emergency crews worked at the crash scene. Nothing further has been reported concerning the crash at this time.
Authorities in Holland continue to investigate.
