The male rider was headed southbound on the highway when he was rear-ended by a Jeep Cherokee. The rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly bicycle accident is underway.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
When traveling by bicycle in Michigan, there is very little protection. In 2019, 843 bicyclists were killed in vehicle accidents in the United States. While overall bicycle fatality rates have decreased, the number of cyclists killed has increased by more than 36% since 2010, when they were at an all-time low. Head trauma is responsible for the majority of serious injuries that occur as a result of bicycle accidents.
Wrongful death lawsuits are intended to compensate surviving family members when a loved one dies as a result of another party's negligence. Obtaining that compensation, on the other hand, is frequently easier said than done. Just because the victim died does not absolve the at-fault party of responsibility. Insurance companies for those who are at fault will frequently try to shift blame for a fatal accident. Instead of paying compensation to the family members of the deceased after a fatal car accident, the defendant should pay compensation to the family members of the deceased to assist with accident-related expenses. Only a personal injury attorney in Flint with years of experience helping victims pursue wrongful death claims can help you achieve this.
