Pittsfield, MI (December 11, 2021) - Five people were hurt, two severely, in a vehicle crash that happened near Ann Arbor on Friday, December 10, according to information from police. At approximately 5:50 p.m. on Friday, authorities were called to the scene of a traffic wreck at the intersection of Packard Road and Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township.
An initial investigation showed that a 2009 Kia Spectra was headed west on Packard when it collided with a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada headed east. The Bravada was attempting to turn left through the intersection, sources said.
The Spectra had the right-of-way at a green light, while the Oldsmobile failed to yield. All five occupants of the Spectra were transported to an area hospital for injuries, including a 20-year-old pregnant woman. She was reportedly seriously injured in the wreck.
An 18-year-old Ypsilanti woman sustained critical injuries, according to information from police. Officers from the Pittsfield Charter Township Department of Public Safety continue to investigate the details of the incident.
The Oldsmobile’s driver, identified as a 27-year-old male, was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving. He was lodged into the Washtenaw County Jail after being evaluated at a local medical center.
We hope for the full and fast recovery of the injured victims. Nothing further has been reported at this time.
