Michigan Pedestrian Collisions

Clam Lake Township, MI - Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck on M-115 near Mackinaw Trail

Walking is a basic method of transportation that is available to everyone. It is also one of the most environmentally-conscious options of travel. Walking is a great way to get some exercise and may be the only mode of transportation available to some people. With so many undeniable benefits, it is easy to forget that being a pedestrian can also be one of the most dangerous ways to get around. Traveling on foot puts pedestrians at risk of being struck by a vehicle, especially on busy roadways.

Each year, more than 70,000 pedestrians sustain injuries or lose their lives in traffic accidents nationwide. In Michigan, roughly 2,500 pedestrians were involved in car accidents in 2019 and, of those, 149 of them were killed.

In addition to untimely deaths, pedestrian accidents are also more likely to result in serious injuries due to the vulnerable nature of traveling on foot. Pedestrians are virtually unprotected while walking. If involved in a collision with a vehicle, they have nothing to protect them against the force of the crash.

If you have recently been injured in a pedestrian accident in Michigan, or a family member of yours has lost their life, you could be entitled to financial compensation for the damages that may have resulted from your accident.
