More than 100 people are killed in Michigan pedestrian collisions each year. In 2018, for each pedestrian who lost their life in a traffic accident in Michigan, there were 13 pedestrians who sustained injuries. Pedestrians continue to be injured and killed in traffic collisions at alarming rates in Michigan and throughout the United States.
Sadly, most of these accidents are due to driver negligence, the most common reason that traffic accidents of any kind occur. An alarming 94% of traffic collisions in the United States happen due to some form of driver negligence. There are approximately 7 million traffic accidents recorded per year in the US, which means that millions of accidents happen because of negligence, which is oddly something that seems preventable.
If you or someone you love has recently sustained a serious injury due to another person’s negligent actions, contact a personal injury lawyer in Michigan as soon as you can. Pedestrians are often more severely injured than any other type of traveler. They are the most vulnerable among those traveling along roadways at any given time. The protection offered by vehicles is not something that pedestrians are able to take advantage of, and when they become involved in accidents with cars, trucks, or other vehicles, they often sustain debilitating or fatal injuries.
